The negative effects of excessive Government? This is truly something our current… and past administration could stand to learn more about. The Romans found out the hard way. Will we dodge the bullet?
Yes Georgie messed up. Do we have to react with a fix that throws the baby (America) out with the bathwater? That is no fix to me. Why would you throw away the most effective and prosperous system in the history of the world just because you and your peers happen to hate the past administration? The person(s) that concocted that fix had a few too many and are clearly not patriots. Why would you not just try to roll our system back to where it was when we were the envy of the entire world? We were historically and indisputably our absolute best as a nation when Government was small. I am stating the obvious when I say a small Government just plain does not have the resources or ability to interfere with an effective system of free enterprise.
As I progress it is important you understand I am NOT yet willing to say Barack Obama is a Socialist. If I had actual proof he was promoting Socialism in this system of Free enterprise I would be with many others calling for Impeachment based on Hi crimes and misdemeanors against our Republic. I would have an urgency in the call because the action would have to be taken before his administration had a chance to change the Constitution to suit their needs. IF Barack Obama promotes Socialistic programs we will need no speculation. As Forest Gump once said, “Stupid is as stupid does.” We will not however know the truth in that for a while just like we have had to wait and see for all previous administrations.
Excessive Government AKA Socialism is contrary to the definition of a free Democratic Republic. Socialism has never worked in all of history unless you wish to call a Government that takes upwards of seventy percent of your earnings, AKA taxes, to support itself, a success. I do not.
Whether Barack Obama supports such a transition or not is for the moment a moot point but it is a situation we must watch with all diligence. You do not however have to look very far to find folks that do promote changing the USA to a Socialist State these days. It is truly amazing how those that long for such control can rationalize. We all know Socialism does not work. It especially does not work if promoting Freedom is your goal. Today’s supporters of Socialism understand this so they rationalize with an imagined form of Democracy based on Socialism… Hmmm…A Democracy based on Socialism… There is almost humor in that oxymoron.
The Democratic part of a Socialist Democracy is what? Your ability to elect the next President that will control your future? You actually want to have the right to elect the next administration that will do nothing but remind you you used to be free? You actually want to have the ability to elect the next ruler that will rub your face in the memory of how foolish you were to have given up what you once had? Do you really want to have your children and your grand children look at you with a tear in their eye and contempt in their voice as they ask you why you gave up what was the best and most successful system in the history of the world?
Many times Socialism has been the evolutionary false “improvement” from a democracy to what ultimately ended in final and total collapse. Look at Rome. Look at Greece. Observe another shining example of Socialism… Hugo Chavez. Look at Fidel. Look at the evolution of one of the largest examples of Socialism in the history of the world, The Soviet Socialist Republic!
I personally do not want that kind of life for those I leave behind. History does repeat itself only because we refuse to learn from our mistakes.
I am personally for the America our predecessors fought and died for. Not one where Freedom is defined as a shadow of our forefather’s intent.
Excessive government does nothing but control all and always ends up serving only the few… in charge.
I am often told, “Time will tell.” Hello? What is wrong with you? Do you honestly think you will be able to roll back your decision once you realize how foolish you were? Once you realize maybe what you had was not so bad? Once you realize the extent to which you have doomed my children and yours to a very real form of slavery? Good luck to you. Time has already repeatedly spoken those very words of dismay. The earth has heard those tears of woe all too often.
Again… Study history. Do not listen to me. I am but an American who loves Freedom and does not want to see it become a myth on my generational watch.

Well written. But a question….you say you are not ready to declare Obama a Socialist. The words “I am a Socialist” are not going to come from his lips, just like the words “what I care about most is getting re-elected” are not going to come from the 500 plus members of Congress, but we know that is true for most of them. Short of saying the words, what does Obama have to say in order for you to agree he is a Socialist? I will contend that he is, based on his actions.

I cannot deny what you say is true. Most of Barack Obama’s policies most assuredly are Socialistic in practice and cannot be denied. I already seriously considered re-writing that post. I chose not to and will leave it as such… Let me explain.
The purpose of this blog is to find reason in our Political process. To do this I think it is important to give folks the benefit of the doubt while at the same time watching their every action for indicators they are for or against the way of life our forefathers fought and die for. Based on what I saw up to the point of writing that post I had pretty much made drawn the same conclusion that motivated you to reply to my post. I literally had to force myself to enter the disclaimer in the vein of giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Another reason I have not re-written that post is my desire for folks to look back at my hard core attempt at wanting to support our new President. I think it is the duty of all Americans to support any new President until and if they show reason not to. HR1388, HR875, and the other bills (all this month) placed before Congress clearly show Barack Obama is promoting the Socialist agenda. As I said in the earlier post, “stupid is as stupid does.” There are a number of ways to say it but they all mean the same. Anyone can deny what they wish but their actions prove or disprove their true stance. It is now time to fight back through education.
